Ode To Women

ODE TO WOMEN

ENTWINED AROUND AN APPLE TREE
SATAN SAID TO EVE:
"WOULDST THOU LIKE AN APPLE
FROM MY GOLDEN APPLE TREE?"

AND EVER SINCE THE APPLE
WOMANKIND HAS BEEN
BLAMED FOR ALL CALAMITIES
AND EVERY KIND OF SIN.

WHENEVER WE MAKE SMALL MISTAKES
IT'S TAKEN AS AN OMEN
MEN ALL SHAKE THEIR HEADS AND SAY
"NOW, THAT'S JUST LIKE A WOMAN."

AND MEN BELIEVE THAT WE CONCEIVE
CHILDREN JUST BY WISHING
'CAUSE THEY ALL SAY THAT MEN HAD RATHER
BE OFF SOMEWHERE FISHING.

HURRICANES AND SHIPS AND STORMS
ARE CALLED BY FEMALE NAMES
BECAUSE WE ARE SO WILD, THEY SAY
AND DIFFICULT TO TAME.

EVERY TIME YOU STUMBLE ON
A DRUNKARD BY THE WAY
HE'LL TELL YOU 'TWAS A WOMAN
THAT TURNED HIM OUT THAT WAY.

WOMEN MAKE MEN DRINK, THEY SAY
AND GAMBLE, STEAL AND DIE
WOMEN BREAK THEIR HEARTS OF GOLD
AND NEVER EVEN SIGH.

WHEN A BAD BOY GOES TO PRISON
WITH ALL HIS CRIMINAL BROTHERS
HE'S SURE TO SAY WHEN ASKED IN PITY
"IT STARTED WITH MY MOTHER."

POOR WOMANKIND HAS BEEN THROUGH MUCH
SINCE EVE PUT US IN PRISON
BUT AT LEAST SHE HAD THE GUMPTION
TO MAKE THE FIRST DECISION.

THE FEMALE IS THE STRONGER SEX
AND I PROVE MY STATEMENT'S WORTH:
IF MEN WERE MEANT TO BEAR THE CHILDREN
THERE'D BE NO LIFE ON EARTH!

WHAT WOULD MEN DO WITHOUT WOMEN
THOUGH THEY DISDAIN US WITH SCORN
DO NOT THEY REALIZE WE ARE ROSES
AND THEY ARE ONLY THORNS?

OF COURSE, WE NEED OUR COUNTERPARTS
DON'T MISUNDERSTAND THIS SONG
AND WE'LL COMFORT, LOVE AND KEEP THEM
(TILL SOMETHING BETTER COMES ALONG.)

Questions Seeking Answers

Questions Seeking Answers

You ask
And wait silently
For my answer
But I have none to give
Only hope to hope on
And wishes to wish on
And prayers to pray.

I don't know
Any more than you do
What tomorrow holds
Or what God grants
Or fate brings..........
Up until now
There has been no fairy tale
Or destined quest
Or dream come true
For me
And without question, you.

For only hearts
That have been broken
And discarded and dis-enchanted
Can ask the questions
That you ask
Only souls that have been disappointed
And betrayed and un-restored
Can venture into that mire of uncertainty
And still risk losing it all once more.

Therefore, let us stay here
In this moment,
In this second that we have been granted
The best of all seconds among minutes and hours
And weeks and months and years of years:
This room full of love
And this endless kiss
This sweet satisfaction
And passionate bliss
It will not be enough for tomorrow, no
Nor any lonely day or night after that....
But it is enough for now.

The blazing fire cools
Compared to your touch
The wine sours
Compared to your kiss
The furs we lie on
Seem rough
Compared to your bare chest
And my silkened skin
That pulls you to me in hunger.

I cannot answer your questions, my love
But I can confess with candid heart
And willing soul..........
That I desire to know those answers
Just as much as you do
Perhaps, more
Perhaps, more...........
And perhaps tomorrow
Will bring us those answers
In one form or another.

Till then, hold me
Kiss mebend me to your will
For I think you will find
That your will is my will
And mine, yours
As it always has been
And was in forgotten dreams
And is now, in this delicate
And beautiful moment.

For when you hold me
Close against your heart like this,
And kiss me tenderly like that,
And our eyes melt into one another's this way,
I can believe in fairytales once more
And destined quests and dreams that come true
Even if they never came true before......

And I can forget those questions
In search of answers that I don't know now
Because all that matters to me in all the world
Is this, this moment lying here with you
Feeling like a princess in the arms of a prince
Who has just inherited the kingdom
That was made with my love.

The Blue Vineyard of Voo Shining Stone: PICKLES AND CHARLEY ICE CREAM

The Blue Vineyard of Voo Shining Stone: PICKLES AND CHARLEY ICE CREAM: Pickles and Charley Ice Cream Pickles, he says, kicking a rock Outta the way with his scuffed up old shoe And I say...

Dangerous Woman

Dangerous Woman

They say I'm a dangerous woman
And I must say that it's probably true
But I could be tamed by a man all the same
If you do what I tell you to do.

There is a kitten in this tiger
And a kitten is soft and it's sweet
A kitten needs petting and stroking
And curling up to play at your feet.

But then when the daytime is over
And the clock strikes at midnight a while
Before the chimes quit you will witness a fit
As the kitten becomes a wild child.

It's in my nature and I cannot control it
For I've always been this way
And the kitten in me will diasappear
When the tiger comes out to play.

And you might be a lucky man
Or you might be forlorn
Depending on how you use the tools
You were given when you were born.

You have to know how to talk to me
How to say my name
How to make me want to let
You join my little game.

You must learn to be patient
For tigers, they love to tease
And hide and seek and then retreat
And then knock you to your knees.

You cannot take your eyes off me
But look into my soul
You must be bold, if truth be told
If you want to reach this goal.

But tender, oh so tender
Till I open up to you
And when you've tamed me with tenderness
Then I'll be bold with you.

I'll play with you and cuddle you
Until your guard is down
Then I'll pounce on you out of the blue
And turn your world around.

Oh, I've got skills and I've made kills
Though I never mean to harm
You must be tough cause I play rough
So be forewarned and armed.

I'm only looking for the right kind of man
Who can tame  me when push comes to shove
Who can master me, yet set me free
To be his pet, his slave, his love.

And men have tried and been denied
And few have earned that prize
For I can tell by the way they kiss
And look into my eyes.

If they are worthy of a girl like me
If they can ignite the desire
That burns in me with a steady blaze
And an otherworldly fire.

I'm a tigress that prowls in the darkness
And a kitten that cuddles up for a nap
But you'll never know from one moment to next
Which one is curled up on your lap.

So yes, I'm a dangerous woman
So leave me or take me in hand
If you tame me today I will not run away
If you'll love me like a dangerous man.

Calling Your Name

Calling Your Name

(I stood alone calling your name
The clouds hid the sunlight and made way for the rain
Your name echoed back off the hills unto me
And my sad lonely shadow was all I could see.)

I'd sought you all of my life
Since I was but a child
I knew you were out there in the world
Somewhere in the wild.

For my dreams gave me glimpses
That my eyes couldn't see
And I knew that you existed
And were looking for me.

But my life took it's turns
Just as all lives, they do
And it distanced and detoured me
From the finding of you.

I met other lovers
I married and left
Two lovers who broke me
And left me bereft.

And I gave up on love
I gave up on life
For who needs a love
That's imprisoned in strife?

But my dreams never left me
They stayed buried, asleep
Laying stagnant and hidden
In my heart, oh, so deep.

And one day to my surprise
To my shock and my awe
My dreams were revived
By the face that I saw.

And the face was your face
A face I had known
In a dream, in a place
In a world of our own.

Where we walked hand in hand
As we walked through the world
Watching ages pass by us
As our dream lives unfurled.

Oh, and we were so happy
To just be we two
For I knew you loved me
And how much I loved you.

And I was your love
And you were my sweet boy
And our days and our nights
Were filled with pure joy.

But what we didn't know
Till much passage of time
That only in that dream world
Could you really be mine.

Till the Fates co-conspired
With the Heavenly plan
And allowed this sad woman
To once again find that man.

We had always had hope
That someday, and somehow
Our two dreams would collide
In the here and the now.

And they did in the last place
That we ever had thought
Stumbling there upon the one thing
That we always had sought.

What a mystery and joy!
What a sweetness divine
For my heart still was yours
And your heart was still mine.

And our souls meshed together
And our bodies belonged
Just as sure as a melody
With the words of a song.

But what cruel turn of fate
Like the changing of weather
Once again we are parted
And cannot be together.

And I call out your name
Like a prayer on the wind
Wondering how long it will be
Till I'm with you again.

For even a dream
Will eventually die
And the reflection of your face
Will fade from my eye.

But my heart won't forget
When I take my last breath
That it loves you with a love
That is stronger than death.

I'm calling your name again now
My sweet boy, my dear
Hoping this time you'll answer
And say Yes love, I'm here.
