Choices

It's so dark in here

But not so dark

That I can't see your eyes

Examining my contours

In the neon glimmer

I pretend not to see

But I feel

The pull of you

Like a thousand magnets

Circling a tiny piece of metal

The D J changes the music

And that silky smooth voice

From the years gone by

And dearly departed

Fills up the room and all of my senses

I turn my back to you

As you stand against the wall

Observing and weighing your options

Then I feel a strong arm go around my waist

And you turn me and put my arms around your neck

In almost imperceptible motion

You lead me without a word

To the crowded dance floor

And we melt into the music

And the thrill of the unknown

We both came here looking

For something we needed

Something to fill 

The void our parting had made

Something to refill our souls

And there I was and there you were

And our hearts, minds and bodies

Made their choices in the dark

And the magic of the music

Sealed the deal.
