Lest We Forget
Lest we forget
The dying of the day
When all the gold in this world
Ebbed away
And night as blankets
Fell in dark to cover
The crying child, the savage wild
The lover
The lover, lonely
In his shipwrecked bed
With naught but nightmares
Crying in his head
Lest we forget
The smiles
Now turned to scorn
As bittersweet sunrises
Call to morn
The morn
That dares not look upon the sky
But catches dreams in it's hands
As they die
For what is life
Without a dream to dream
All happy laughter
Turned into a scream
Perhaps we'll never know
Why love departed
And left it's ragged remnants
To this race so broken hearted
The world in sadness wept
And it weeps yet
But raise those remnants high
Lest we forget.
