Looking For A Muse
I used to write a lot
Stories, poems and things
I used to dance and love romance
I even used to sing.
I woke up in the morning
With a smile upon my face
Went to bed with lucid dreams
But all that's been replaced.
No poem has come to me in days
No dream has come in nights
No dance or romance has lured me in
And nothing seems all right.
I was born with a pen in my right hand
I was born with such love in my heart
High, lofty dreams carried me on their wings
Couldn't wait for adventures to start.
There was always a muse standing beside me
Always spurring me on
Giving me hope and my own way to cope
As I wrote a new poem or song.
And through the years replacements found me
In moments of joy or of strife
A new muse and friend when old assignments would end
There was always a muse in my life.
But now, alas! There has been no muse
To take the last one's place
No one to inspire me to write again
With his love or his smile or his face.
Perhaps I exhausted the muses I had
Used up their inspiration somehow
Their talents were spent (I don't know where they went)
But I'm ready to write, ready to dream.........
And I'm looking for a new muse to come find me now.

***A male version of a muse is simply called a Male Muse. While "muse" is traditionally feminine, male muses are figures—lovers, friends, or models—who inspire creative work. Common synonyms for a male muse include inspiration, mentor, guide, or partner.
