As If a Dream

 As If A Dream

Softness lay on your hands like clouds in summer
And you touched me like a cherished violin
Eyes so full of sweetness I went drowning
Down to your depths and hurried up again.

Whispered on my neck, your mouth went seeking
And I, enthralled, became your willing muse
Through entwined fingers love came shyly peeking
Forgetting what it was we had to lose.

And there the grass rolled out as if a carpet
And there the sky scrolled back as if a dream
And there the birds of heaven serenaded
And flowers wove a tapestry unseamed.

No song and yet we danced in arms of longing
Delicate and quiet as the dawn
Till midnight fled and we were overtaken
By longing stronger than the strongest storm.

And passion touched my skin like strands of silver
Searing like the lightning in your eyes
Hands, once soft, became as rough as iron
And the bright moon echoed with our lovers' cries.

The joy of love, no poet can describe it
The need of man for woman, who can tell
What else on earth can give a taste of heaven
Take it away and makes you taste of hell?

Here in the night I reach the arms of wanting
I long once more to walk the road of bliss
Touch me with hands of softness and of iron
And dream me back to our first summer's kiss.

Attaining

Attaining

Sleek, black vehicle
Jaguar fast and moving
Through the night
On rain soaked roads
Shining like glass.

Beautiful.....
Deadly.......
In the hands
Of the careless.

Dark, brown eyes
Seductive, enticing
Sending forth commandments
To come to
Instead of running away from.

Beautiful.......
Deadly.........
To the soul
Of the vulnerable.

Wet, welcome storm
Quenching the thirst
Of barren, desperate desert
Not knowing when to stop
Washes away the work of a thousand days.

Beautiful.......
Deadly.........
To the very earth
So hungry for the taste.

Why must the things we want,
Need, crave, desire,
Delight in, pursue, seek out, and purchase,
Destroy us in the attaining
And kill us in their arms.

Scenes From One Of The Sweetest Sexiest Movies Ever
Don Juan DeMarco

Song:
Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman?

Timing Is Everything

Timing Is Everything

Silently, wordlessly.....
I walk behind you in the fog
And wait for you to pause
Long enough for me to catch up.

You stop and look furtively around
Jingling the coins in your pocket
And I see the frown you occasionally wear
When you think of me.

Seeing nothing in the mists,
You walk on, glancing up at the sky
And pulling the trench coat collar
Tighter around your throat.

You stumble over a stone
And utter an indecipherable oath
That I can't quite hear
And it makes me smile.

"Where are you?!" you shout out loud
And kick the stone out into the darkness
"How much more must I endure?" you ask
And I recognize my moment and rush forward.

"I'm right here, mon cher." I whisper
And slip my cold hand into your pocket
And into the warmth of your fingers
As they grasp mine in fear and trembling.

You twirl underneath the dim street lamp
And clouds of fog circle around us and between us
You make motions to disperse the mist
And stand there in stark disbelief and indescribable joy.

"Is it you?" you ask, reaching to touch my face
"Is it really you?" "Tell me it's you and not a dream."
And I back away and look into those eyes
That I have dreamed of melting into for evermore and always.

"It's really me, beloved." I whisper softly
"Can a dream do this?" and I stroke your cheek with my finger tips
"And can a dream do that?As I run my thumb over the outlines of your mouth
And leave it there upon your lips.

Time is suspended, stands still,
And we both wait to see if this is reality or fiction of the mind
Before we give in to the emotions that run rampant
Over, under, around and through us like mad things beyond control.

"There was a glitch in time." I say,
"And I slipped through the veil when the time was right."
"Well, timing is everything." you murmur
And push a wayward curl behind my ear.

Somewhere in the distance
A band begins to play in some elegant ballroom
And the music reaches our ears and swirls around us
And you bow and say, "May I have this dance, Princess?"

I take your hand and the touch of it sends currents through me
Your arm around my back, and we waltz as if on clouds
I cannot take my eyes from yours as we meld in that sweet embrace
Like warm honey spilling from an overturned bowl.

I hear you exhale and I exhale my own breath
Over your shoulder as my pulse runs wild
Tighter you pull me and your grasp is like steel
Yet the pain is delicious because I know you are real.

Unrequited

Unrequited

Were I to pen a letter true
And tell my deepest thoughts to you
What would you think, what would you say
Would you rebound and run away?

Were I to sing a song of love
And convince you that 'twas from above
Would you in rapture listen to
And believe the words I sing to you?

Were I to die for true love's sake
Would you from slumber come awake
And love me then like you don't now
If I should die for you somehow?

Were I to die and haunt your dreams
In golden fields by crystal streams
In downy clouds lie down in love
Would that then win for me your love?

For all I've done has come to naught
I've found no hope in what I've sought
You've passed me by like I'm unseen
And kissed me only in my dreams.

And though I've laid my heart out bare
I know for me you do not care
My song's unheard, my words unread
In heartache's hand I make my bed.

Were I to wish now that I die
Would you in pity deem to try
And kiss my lips for pity's sake?
I'll dream forever and never wake.
