The Only One For Me

The Only One For Me by John Trudell

The Only One For Me

You're my prayer's answer
My song's refrain
My cloud, my sky, my sun and rain

You are my passion
My heart's desire
My night, my day, my warming fire

You are my sweetness
My spirit's soar
My dance, my music, my reason for

You are my light
My soul's embrace
My other self that wears your face

You are my treasure
My hidden gold
My wealth, the depth, cannot be told

You are my blessing
My greatest gift
My joy that gives this life a lift

You are my lover
My dearest friend
My best companion that's ever been

You are my heart
My need to be
My love till ends eternity

You are the only one for me.

I Dreamed Of Oranges

Play video as you read the poem

 Ghost Song by Max Ablitzer

I Dreamed Of Oranges

I dreamed of oranges
In a white china bowl
On a brown teak wood table
In a small yellow kitchen.

I could smell the fragrance
Hanging in the sun beamed air
So sweet and tangy
I could almost taste them.

Checked blue curtains billowed
In the gentle morning breeze
The window was open
And somewhere a child sang softly.

I stood in the doorway, puzzled
Something felt so right
Something seemed so wrong
But I didn't know what it was.

My eyes caught the sight
Of a tiny baby shirt
Hanging on a clothesline
Swaying, swaying back and forth.

A dog chased a big black cat
Through tulip beds of red and purple
And in a moment of bravery
The cat turned and stood still as stone.

There were no cars, no radios
The world was strangely silent
Except for the wind blown lullaby
Of the faraway child.

The floor was cool on my bare feet
But it felt so good and comforting
I walked into the sun beam
And took a fruit in my trembling hand.

I peeled diligently in one long peel
Until I got to the last piece
And then it broke off and hit the floor
So loudly that it woke me up.

So sweet, so juicy, so tantalizing
I raised my dusty hand to my mouth
Lying there in the baked red desert
Dying of thirst and dying of longing.

I dreamed of oranges
In a white china bowl.

That Night In Hot Springs In The Rain......a true story told in prose form

Gentle rain sounds

That Night In Hot Springs In The Rain

I had to get away
And get away I did
Drove to Hot Springs and got a hotel
Ordered some pizza
And tried to watch some tv.

But I was bored
So very bored
And it was raining a sweet Spring rain
Yeah, rain has always
Made my blood run hotter
And my feet want to get loose and dance.

I got all dolled up
In a black jumpsuit of spandex
Curled my long hair
Put on perfume
And silver.

Drove the streets of that town
Looking for a place that was alive
With music and men
Some place or cool scene
To let off some steam.

The high end clubs
All seemed too dull
Though I was dressed in a "high end" way
But there was nothing in any of them
That made me want to stay.

I was about to give up on the whole idea
When something shiny caught my eye
I pulled over into a parking lot
Surveying the neon lights
As the rain fell gently
And Phil Collins sang "my song."

It was a biker bar!
(You know the kind)
The kind you see in movies
With Hondas and Harleys parked there everywhere
And men all dressed in black leathers.

I was terrified
(But so enthralled)
For I'd never darkened that kind of door
But I was bored and feeling dare devil-ish
And my body was just starved for dancing.

I checked the rear view and tousled my hair
As "Hold On My Heart" played on repeat
(You know sometimes when you get obsessed)
And you just wanna hear that song?
Well, hold that image in your mind....

I walked in like it was a movie premiere
And the crowd held it's collective breath
No exaggeration, I kid you not
(But I was scared too death!)
Yeah, me, the girl you think you know.....
I was scared too death!

But I made my way through
The whistles and smoke
And found a place to sit down
Looked around to see if I was the only girl there
And I was but for some Motorcycle Mamas..

Then the beers started coming
(And I do nodrink beer)
And the boys started swaggering
And making boy noise
But I didn't look up and meet anyone's eyes
(Though they all seemed to be willing toys.)

After two or three beers
I was losing my shyness
And feeling my boldness
And losing my blues
And began looking 'round
For a partner to choose.

And then it hit me:
The wildness
(You know that wildness)
And I tossed back my hair
Oh no, not that!
Oh, yes, I did!
I tossed back my hair
And got to my feet.

Downed the last of that horrible
Horrible beer
And then I kinda lost what was left of my mind
Grabbed me a startled cute guy by the collar
As Def Leppard started screaming out "Sugar."

"Come here, boy, let's dance." I said
And all eyes glued to us
(Well, mostly on me but.... you know, you know 😉)
The cute guy ate it up, grinning like crazy
And didn't put up much of a fuss.

To be continued....................(maybe)
