FOUND ON A BLUE GREEN SEA with spoken word version at bottom of page

Found On A Blue-Green Sea

We sailed upon a blue-green sea
My love and I, that night
Beneath a moon of solid gold
And stars, silent and bright.

We clung to love with wanting arms
And spoke of things to come
Of fire and cold and growing old
And paths that lead to home.

We drank the night like it was wine
And whispered in the wind
Laughed at all the lonely years
And what almost could have been.

We'd found the faces we could love
In crowds of loveless hearts
And made our pact, no going back
To romantic stops and starts.

(Maybe love is magic
And maybe love is glue
And only love can mend the seams
Of a life that's torn in two).

But in that lovely little ship
Beneath those stars so bright
We solved the mysteries of our lives
As we sailed into the light.

Sometimes we don't know who we are
Till in a lover's eyes we see
All we ever hoped and dreamed
And all that we could be.

We nestled down in harboring hearts
Like treasures found and kept
While wind and sea carried us to shore
And in arms of love, we slept.

The song that inspired the write
The Promise by Secret Garden
the most beautiful melody I ever heard.......

  1. This is where I sailed from this:
Once sailed upon a blue-green sea. Till storms came for me. Wash me overboard that blue-green sea and pushed me far too deep to see. Deep under I did fall. No air to hear my call. But yet my love she did not fall. Then sailed on far and far to shore.

I don't know how long I dwelled within. No light for time. No fun for swim. Still waters run deep, black, and cold. An empty void. How long I dwelled within? Oh Lord what is my sin? Will never again my life begin? Harold an Angel, touch my skin? This is the end.
I cannot see. No longer blue-green sea.

Eternity past, I chance to open my eyes. The hope to tell how much time passed by. Shimmering glimmers I see above me. The sun above watery grave I remember thee! I watched the lovers as they sailed by. Close enough to touch and wonder why. Was that me once upon a time? I also sailed a blue-green sea. They embraced, they kissed. My heart was warmed by their bliss.

So maybe there is hope for me. For I too sailed a blue-green sea. One day in hope on a boat my love will arrive and dive. She will take my hand and guide me high. She will embrace me like those lovers did. I will fly. She will remove the sins I never did. She will produce the glue the other hid. We will mend the seams that were torn apart. And follow other lovers and never drift apart.

So tonight I dreamed of lovers who sail upon a blue-green sea. A tale of love someone once read for me. Or maybe I'll just be saved to stand on the shore and watch the lovers sail forevermore.
