Rose In Twilight

soundtrack

Rose in Twilight

A blackened rose tied up in silk fell on the trampled snow
I did not see who dropped it there or see the giver go
I heard a raven call to it's mate, sitting in the tree
But I did not hear with listening ear a voice call out to me.

I stood as a statue as the twilight crept in
And the falling snow fell on my hair
The pulse in my throat and the rush of my blood
Was the only thing living felt there.

The sky was silver, reflecting snow
And the moon had not yet come
I felt the night, though out of sight
Welcome me to home.

A whisper rose up on the wind
And called my name so sweet
But I could not for life of me
Move my frozen feet.

Then I picked the rose out of the snow
And in sorrow bowed my head
And when I'd raised my face again
The rose had turned to red.

  2. It wasn’t the first time that I’ve met a woman in a cemetery who needed a shoulder to cry on. (they all need a shoulder to cry on, you know). And since I live right next door to a cemetery it’s rather convenient. I can look out my window and watch the processions as the go in and out. (They have to use my driveway, it’s the only access in and out of the cemetery……….Free of charge of course).

I usually take my morning “stroll in the park” through the cemetery and occasionally watch the usual critters that live there, you know, the skunks, lizards, crows, and toads, as they scurry around beggin’ for a morsel of food from me since I’m their only source of income and food, and watch them as the get along like cats and dogs do. (one big happy family).

One day I was feeding the crows their usual junk while Johnny Depp watched from a distance when I heard someone snifflin’ and sneezin’ from behind me. I turned around and said “get soon tight”!
There she was, a long cool woman in a black dress, with blue eyes and auburn hair. She was definitely a 5’9” beautiful tall!
I asked if she was ok. That’s when she gave me that look…… you know, that lost little girl look. So I quickly took ahold of the situation, whatever that may be, and walked over to her and I could see that she’d been broken - and looking for comfort.
I asked her, “ma’am, are you okay?”
Right then she wrapped her arms around my neck and started sobbin’. …… what’s a guy supposed to do with that?
I could feel the tears falling from her eyes and drippin’ down on my neck. They were rather warm tears at that……. I perished the the thought that came to mind and focused on her.
    “What’s your name little Missy?”
    “It’s Lilith……. Lilith Missy.”
    “What’s gotchoo all worked up?”
“It’s my red rose! It turned black and I don’t know what that means.”
I thought to myself, “maybe you didn’t water it enough.” But I perished that thought too.
So I said to her, “why don’t you come over next door to my place and I’ll fix you something to drink.”
“Do you have any hot chocolate?”
Oh yeah! I’ve also got some chocolate chip cookies to dunk in your chocolate. And it’s dark chocolate to boot!”
Why she perked up quicker than a coffee percolator!”
“Don’t worry about the black rose. I know it’ll get its color back.”…….. So I took it to the garage and found the can of that quick-settin’ “ruby-red rose” spray paint and gave that rose the once over twice. Just as I gave it the third coat I heard someone from behind. It was that Voo who lives on the other side of the cemetery. She was all dressed up in a black dress that was durn near draggin’ the ground.
“What are you up to?” She says. “Are you spray painting roses again………..?
