HOLD ME FOR A WHILE

Just Let Me Hold You
by Josh Krajcik

Hold Me For A While

I am a full grown woman
And I can make it on my own
I've spent most of my life that way
A warrior, aloof, alone.

But what is life if no one needs you?
 And you don't need anyone?
Then this life has lost it's meaning
And there's no room for love or fun.

You have to let your guard down
Let someone in your heart
Eventually or you will see
Your book end before it starts.

You have to make the decision
To protect yourself or risk
Love breaking your heart by loving
Or from the love you made it miss.

Either way, at the end of the day
Whether woman, man or child
We all need the arms of others
To just hold us for a while.

I'd rather hurt by losing
Than never giving it a try
Even when your every Hello
Is followed by Goodbye.

If needing love is weakness
Then let my weakness be
I'll be the warrior tomorrow, love
If tonight, you'll just hold me.

And when it comes your time to hurt
My love will lift you high
Bare my strengthened warrior's shoulder
As a place for you to cry.

One alone is not very strong
But two entwined can be
And a three-fold cord cannot be broken
When it's you and God and me.

You may think that I am foolish
When I reveal my soul to view
But I trust you with my weaknesses
As I do the same for you.

We were not created to be alone
But to need what we don't possess
From others who need what we can give
And to those, should gladly bless.

Tomorrow, I may be a lion again
A formidable foe to fight
But I just need to know that I can let go
Here in your arms tonight.

DESPERATE CHARACTERS

start music now

Desperate Characters

Desperate characters
we dance in the dark
trying to capture
that magic, that spark

Wining and dining
and yearning to feel
the way that we did once
when true love was real

Desperate characters
we probe with our eyes
and try to detect there
the truth and the lies

Hoping for something
that can't be replaced
by strangers and others
that time has erased

Desperate characters
we give it a whirl
out there on the floor
the ballroom of the world

Of loving and losing
and losing some more
two ships without anchors
that have crashed on the shore

Still looking for magic
and longing for home
cause a house is just shelter
when you live alone

Desperate characters
trying so to be brave
holding onto a moment
that the heart cannot save

Then the music, it stops now
and the bright lights come on
in the dark, I was hopeful
but I'm leaving alone.

AS THE NIGHT WRITES US IT'S SONG

As The Night Writes Us It's Song

I want you like I need you
I need you like I love
I love you like the ground below
And like the sky above

I feel you in the twilight
Like soft sand 'neath my feet
Coming through the atmosphere
And there my heart to meet

Touching me with just your eyes
Devouring with your glance
You reach for me as your soul sings
And pulls me close to dance

The day, forgotten, the night, awaits
And loneliness is gone
We kiss, we love, we touch, we sing
As the night writes us it's song

Alone In the Dark

FINDING YOU AGAIN .... contains soundtrack music player

These three pieces of music are exquisite and make the reading of the poem like a movie playing in your mind. Read slowly and savor all the nuances and by the end of the poem you should be at the end of the last song if you time it right!!!! It's pure Magic!!!
Depending on how fast or slowly you read, I suggest you let the first song play almost to the end to absorb the nuances and get into the right frame of mind. The third song should take you to the very end of the write. You'll see what I mean....

"Finding You Again"

Where are you, my love?
What sea has taken you to foreign shores
To mountains I cannot traverse, nor valleys
Will I not see the face again that I adore?

The eyes that shone with love for me at meeting
The heart that beat in rhythm with my own?
The arms of steel that reached as I lay weeping
Grasped me up and welcomed me to home.

Where are you tonight, my best beloved?
What fate has befallen you alone out there?
What woe has stilled your golden voice from calling
And kept your running feet from coming here?

Send word to me by messenger or raven
On the backs of steeds or in the mouths of fish
Send me word before I die of longing
Before my heart forgets to hope or wish.

Can you feel me reaching for you now?
My fingers blindly groping in the dark
Touching naught but voids all full of nothing
Seeing not a flicker or a spark.

So long, so long, dear heart,  have I been waiting
Standing by the sad and silent shore
Watching for a sign there in the blue skies
Thinking you don't love me anymore.

But surely it's a demon whispering to me
Surely, it cannot be true or fact
If you are lost then my love must go on searching
To the ends of all of the earth to bring you back.

I cry, I cry with tears of endless yearning
I weep with sorrow from a broken heart
I need, I need to know where you are hiding
And what thing conspires to keep our souls apart.

The whispering winds can carry my words to you
Surely, God will send them to your ears
He formed the two of us to be together
He can't approve of all this suffering here.

See how the butterflies cling to my teardrops!
They try to wipe my loneliness away
They kiss me with their tiny, fragile wings now
And wave back to me as they fly away.

And look! See how the roses grow around me!
They caress my skin and leave their sweet perfume
A sky lark perches on a tree branch swaying
And sings to me, "Don't weep, you'll see him soon."

What hope leaps in my heart from out of nowhere!
What love surrounds me from an unknown source
I hear a sound that's coming from a distance
Like pounding hooves...and there it is, the horse!

And on it's back, a man clad in white raiment
I raise my hands to Heaven that God's heard
But when he reaches me, he is a stranger
And he says to me, "I bring you word.

The one you love was wounded in the battle
He clings to life by just a slender thread
But for your love he's held on by sheer willing
By all accounts he should have been long dead."

And all my heart and all my soul cries for you
With bitter tears that fall like torrent rain
I run to the horse and man who pulls me upward
Who seems to feel my heartbreak and my pain.

And on we ride through other-worldly sunlight
Through forests I have never seen before
To a castle tall and shining just before us
And to gates of pearl that I've read about in lore.

The man in white deposits me to others
Who smile at me and take my trembling hand
"He waited for the day that you could join him"
They say to me and lead me to the man.

And there you are and there I am in Heaven!
You hold out your arms to me with shining eyes
I didn't know I'd passed from life to death
I didn't know and I did not ask why.

You walk me down a pathway to a garden
Filled with flowers and bird song and with love
You touch my face and whisper how you love me
And joy rains down on us from skies above.

My love, my ever love, we are together
From life to death and life again it seems
I do not breathe for I'm afraid I'll waken
And find that we live only in my dreams.

THE GUARDIAN AND THE GHOUL

evil always wears a beautiful mask.............

Dark Magic Music
by Goetia

start now

The Guardian and the Ghoul
(a fairytale too true)

beneath the darkened moon
a black rose bloomed
and wolves began to howl
encroaching doom

and in the forest filled
with cold thick mist
the woman shivered
like she'd just been kissed

she'd lost her way
and couldn't find the path
but stumbled in when she thought
she'd heard a laugh

and so she had
but didn't know the source
and didn't know that laugh
had changed her course

for hidden there
'neath trees like a black cape
her fate awaited her
with no escape

she heard him breathing
ragged-like and slack
who's there? she called
but got no answer back

he watched her terror growing
by the minute
and smiled a smile
for he took pleasure in it

he saw her pale skin
gleaming in the dark
he felt her blood go rushing
through her heart

he smelled the lilac
smell of her perfume
and breathed her in
impatient to consume

she didn't know the danger
waiting there
she didn't know the stranger
didn't care

she only knew her fear
had paralyzed
but not that she
was captured in his eyes

he watched her as she stumbled
in the trees
and slipped and fell
and tumbled to her knees

the moon was much too dark
to light her way
and the forest kept it's pact
to make her stay

they played with her
the man and the dark wood
the vines crept out to catch her
if they could

so many times the forest
set a trap
to catch a pretty maiden
in it's lap

and held her there
until the man appeared
to save her but
became the thing she feared

and this one was no different
though more innocent than most
and so would be a delicious treat
to the forest and it's host

they watched her laugh in nervousness
and then they heard her cry
as she fought valiantly to find
a light up in the sky

then on the ground the maiden sat
to think and catch her breath
she discerned how close she was to doom
to danger and to death

she prayed a prayer for guidance
she repented of her sins
she promised Jesus if rescue came
that she would make amends

the vines withdrew their hold on her
and slunk back the way they came
and the forest turned it's head at that
for she had said the Name

then the man with lust within his eyes
cried out and groaned in pain
he knew the maiden would not be his
nor would she come again

for in an instance bright light appeared
and pierced the gloom of night
an angel came and gathered her
and took her from his sight

and just before light ebbed away
the angel turned to say
"you will not have this beloved one
so Ghoul, be on your way!"

so he crept into his cavern lair
and nursed his wounded pride
and curled into a ball of hurt
with no maiden by his side

and waited then for the next call
when the forest alerted him
that a maiden had wandered off the path
into the woods so dim

and he would watch her as she stumbled
and listen close to what she'd say
for if she did not say the Name
then she'd be his that day

the man, the ghoul, the evil one
in his lair of stones and sticks
always waiting for the lost
and up to his old tricks

he never changes, his tactics work
and always have, you see
how do I know this, you may ask
the maid who prayed that night was me

and so I tell my story
to all who'll hear my tale
so if you have the will to live
you'll hear and hear me well

the woods so dark and the light so dim
detour the path that you are on
and if you never call the Name
you'll not find your way home

this world is full of creatures
that lie in wait for you
to take from you your breath and life
and discard you when they're through

don't stumble in the darkness
when there is light to shine
don't forget there is an angel watching
over you, friend, just like mine

he is waiting for the summons
to be sent from God above
to rescue you and help you through
and to prove to you you're loved

but the ghoul there in the forest waits
for he knows that few there be
that believe that angels wait to fly
to rescue foolish ones like me

and he rubs his hands, anticipating
as the clouds obscure the moon
as the wolves howl out their fearful songs
and the black roses start to bloom

he stands 'neath black trees like a cape
hidden from the eye
and he laughs his laugh to catch the ear
of the lost maiden passing by

shhh! the forest whispers out
as the ghoul sends forth his laugh
and the vines of sin begin to reel her in
from the safety of the path

and in his darkness he devours
and casts her flesh away
and her spirit rises up to scream
but it can never run away

the forest is filled with his victims
though he's long tired of their stale human taste
he will still carry on till the lost are all gone
while Heaven watches and mourns for the waste

so many angels sidelined
so many unemployed
that could be sent from Heaven
to rescue the devil's toys

for they can't come unless they're called
and they cannot rescue
the heirs of salvation to which they're assigned
God's own, like me and you

and the ghoul knows that
oh yes, he knows
and he lies to us
as he watches us grow

and he steals the faith
out of our hearts
and steals our prayers
Before we start

and he makes us believe
as we make our way home
that the dark evil forest
is where we belong

please listen to me now
the foolish, now schooled
if you don't call for the Guardian
you'll be devoured by the Ghoul.
