WHAT IF?
What If?
What if there were no star shine
Or moon light's gleam
What if there was no golden sun
Sparkling up the stream?
What if there were no bird song
Or melody in the heart
What if there were no lantern glow
Lighting up the dark?
What if there were no sweetness
To sourness, counteract
What if we lost everything
And couldn't get it back?
What if there was no beauty
And ugliness did reign
What if there was no comfort
And all we knew was pain?
What if days were endless
And nights, a moment's bliss
What if lips were hungry
And couldn't taste a kiss?
What if life was temporary
And this time was all we knew
I wouldn't care about any of that
As long as I had you.

What if there were no friends to help us through life at times?
ReplyDeleteWhat if there were no words of comfort for the times when they were really needed?
What if empathy or sympathy were non-existent, for the truly down and out?
What if love had no meaning nor healing power?
What if love was just a sham? Would life have any worth?
But what if I came along and demonstrated it to you? Removed all doubt from within and replaced it with confidence in yourself as a good friend would do? What would you say to that?
