As I rounded the corner I noticed the huge sign lit up in front of Voo’s Place…….. “JAZZ”!
ReplyDeleteThe line to get in was long and crowded, and the people were lined up 3 abreast like “liquor bottles stacked up against a mirror on a liquor shelf” ready for some fun and action!
While I stood there in line waiting to get in I could hear a couple of trumpet players givin’ the place a Louie Armstrong atmosphere while the sax player was luring everyone in with his “Saxy” music……..
I could see the guitar player, as I stepped inside, playing that guitar like Wes Montgomery…….. he was “Smokin' it at the Half Note” while Louie was belchin’ out some humdinger music, and all I could say was, “Hello Dolly!” Oh it was insane I tell ya!” Someone “Stop This Insanity!”
As I crept up close to the stage, all of a sudden the stage lights come on, and there she is in all her…….. well almost all of her……… a long tall 5”6’ beautiful woman wearing a black dress and a white flower in her hair.
As she scanned the room her eyes caught my eyes. Right then and there we made a connection….. (it happens every time….) and she says to me as she holds the mic up to her lips, (and they were all her lips too) and says, “I’ve got A Song For You, my Ribbon In The Sky.”
Well that’s when she does a “Cantaloop” flip off the stage, durn near doin’ a split as she lands on the floor in front of me. It was the dress that actually did the split……right up the side of her dress…….. as I heard it…as it looked more like a “Sundress” now!
Then she says to me, “Mister Magic,
Oh, so long for this night I prayed
That a star would guide you my way
To share with me this special day
Where are ribbons in the sky for our love.”
Well that’s when she says, “let’s ‘Winelight’ out of here and go to my place and Make A Memory, cause ‘I Feel Like Making Love’ and ‘Love Won’t Let Me Wait!”
I said, “Mercy Mercy Mercy’ Percy! You just ‘Call Out My Name’ and I’ll be there cause you’ve ‘Earned It’ this weekend…… and ‘Tenderly’ too, my ‘Blue Gardenia’…… “
Then she says to me, “Teach Me Tonight’ For All We Know, This Is ‘Almost Like A Song’ And I just wanna ‘See Your Face Before Me’ In The Wee Small Hours of the night.”
We finally arrive at her place, and in my mind I’m thinkin’ (like I usually do when I get into one of these sichiashuns) ‘Maybe I should have saved those left over dreams!
Funny, but Here's That Rainy Day’ they have always told me about…”
Anyway, we were “A Thousand Kisses Deep” when she says, “didn’t I tell ya you’d ’Get Here?”
Then she says to me, “Don’t Let Me Make You Feel Second Best’ cause ‘You Were Always On My Mind!”
That’s when the “Blue Light” comes on in my mind! And as that ol’ sayin’ goes, “That’s The Way Love Goes!” in this “Secret Garden” of love and games!
Don’t kill me and send me to the Voo’neral Home………I couldn’t resist……..

VOOISMS by Voo Shining Stone..........though I think our island girl came up with that actual word if I recall correctly.
