All Night Cafe
All Night Cafe
Starving for love in late afternoon,
We met at the cafe down the way
Anticipating a snack
That turned into a banquet,
That turned into a midnight feast,
That led to a breakfast buffet.
(Damn!
You are one fine
short order cook!)

The Storm In Me
Storm sounds
The storm in me is raging
Raging for your touch
Raging for the passion
The taste I love so much
The storm in me is rising
Rising every hour
Rising to meet you in the storm
And feel your strength and power
The storm in me is calling
Calling out for love
Calling as it's falling
As rain falls from above
The storm in me is whispering
Whispering for your kiss
Tickling down the silken throat
With the lips I love to miss
The storm in me is welcoming
As you come to me now
Come inside out of the rain
Where it's still wet somehow
The storm in me is screaming
As your love to me you give
Screaming out my soul's delight
And all my dreams relive
The storm in me's abating
Peaceful now and calm
My body now is sated
Your love it's sweetest balm
The storm in me is sleeping
To be wakened by you when
With your lightest touch, you'll bid me rise
And the storm will rage again.

Black Like The Night repost
Black Like The Night
.
.
.
She wore black like the night
Downtown in that little dive of darkness
I watched her from my bar stool;
Nursing my beer and my recently shattered, manly pride.
Downtown in that little dive of darkness
I watched her from my bar stool;
Nursing my beer and my recently shattered, manly pride.
.
Somehow, I couldn’t see her in a place like this
She looked mythical, like a creature rising from a song
Long, black hair and eyes like midnight;
I wanted to fall into them but I held back.
She looked mythical, like a creature rising from a song
Long, black hair and eyes like midnight;
I wanted to fall into them but I held back.
.
I wondered if she was a spell caster
Or evil masquerading as sweetness
We stared across the dim lit noisy room;
Until my soul could no longer resist.
Or evil masquerading as sweetness
We stared across the dim lit noisy room;
Until my soul could no longer resist.
.
I wanted to buy her champagne
But they didn’t have any
I wanted to take her for a walk on the moon;
But I knew she’d already been there.
But they didn’t have any
I wanted to take her for a walk on the moon;
But I knew she’d already been there.
.
When I came to myself, night was fading
I was in the middle of a dream at the edge of the world
I opened my eyes and saw her standing on the water;
Beckoning me with music in her fingers.
I was in the middle of a dream at the edge of the world
I opened my eyes and saw her standing on the water;
Beckoning me with music in her fingers.
.
Her smile was like honey, but it was not warm
Still, I starved for her and reached out as I stood
I heard a murmur as I stumbled in the dark trees;
But no matter how hard I reached, I could not touch her.
Still, I starved for her and reached out as I stood
I heard a murmur as I stumbled in the dark trees;
But no matter how hard I reached, I could not touch her.
.
She was an angel, she was a demon
She was a siren and a premeditated crime
Taunting me with whispers till I ran screaming;
I fell into the black water and plunged to my despair.
She was a siren and a premeditated crime
Taunting me with whispers till I ran screaming;
I fell into the black water and plunged to my despair.
.
But that was then and this is now
Now I sit on a different bar stool in a different dive
It’s midnight and I have no pride left in me at all;
And there she is, wearing black, and shining like a promise.
Now I sit on a different bar stool in a different dive
It’s midnight and I have no pride left in me at all;
And there she is, wearing black, and shining like a promise.
.
She beckons me and I follow, as she knows I will
As I do when the madness calls and I am lost
She carries the keys to my desperation;
And she always finds me.
As I do when the madness calls and I am lost
She carries the keys to my desperation;
And she always finds me.

five after midnight
Looking
Looking
(the beginning of a journey)
Streets as dark as dark can get
Skies as black as blackest jet
I walk these hopeless paths and yet....
Keep looking, I keep looking.
There in the night, a distant light
There in the light, a dim lit sight
I run to see if I am right.....
For looking, always looking.
Too many times, too many days
I've lost my treasure, lost my ways
Grabbed hold so tight, they slipped away....
But continued looking, continued looking.
There is a place, I know, for me
And I will know it when I see
An oasis from this world, will be.....
If I keep looking, just keep looking.
My footsteps, slower now, with age
My life, words, on a yellowed page
My heart, a sad thing in a cage.....
Beats faintly, but still looking, looking.
Love, it calls my unknown name
Like taunting children at a game
Life, it changes, but stays the same....
And I go on looking, I go on looking.
Then up ahead, around a curve
A bright light rises from the swerve
And welcomes me with smile and verve....
And I stop looking, I stop looking.
