The Mummy Walks

The Mummy Walks

The mummy walks the corridor
 Dressed in ancient rags
Damaged in discovery, the left leg slightly drags
Eyes are blank and dreamless, the hands are limp and cold
Head is bowed and mournful, feeling centuries old.

Searching for a light to shine, looking for a map
To turn the darkness into day, awakened from a nap
Left, the mummy thinks, then stops no, right, there stands a door
Tripping over strings and things, falling on the floor.

At last the goal sought is in sight,

The creature's blood runs hotter
It's 2 in the morning and a child's voice screams out

"Mommy, where's my drink of water?"
