We Are Like Trees

We Are Like Trees

We are like trees
Our roots go deep
Even as our branches are lopped off
By life and love and loss

Our roots go deep
And try to hang on
To every bit of life
Every drop of love

And even when it appears
That we are dead or dying on the outside
The scent of love's rain will revive us
And make us stand up on the inside
And reach out for life again.

Job 14:7

“For there is hope for a tree, If it is cut down, that it will sprout again,
And that its tender shoots will not cease.

  1. An interesting way of looking at love....and, really, life. Having been in depression (many years ago) and having seen people recently who have basically given up on life, I know that that re-blooming can, but doesn't always, happen. Good words, my friend. hoping that there IS always hope.
