Teacher, Teach Me
Teacher, Teach Me
I don't know how to say the things
I want so much to say
I don't know how to keep you here
And make you want to stay.
I never learned the lessons
For there was no one to teach
About love and life and how it works
So it stayed out of my reach.
I had no one to show me love
But of hatred, I had plenty
And they threw my love upon the ground
Until there wasn't any.
But still I knew deep in my heart
That love was a reality
And that there were people who had a lot
There just wasn't much for me.
So I learned to live in love songs
In movies and in books
I wrote characters that I could love
Who in life, gave me no looks.
I never understood just why
Love passed me by unseen
An ugly step-sister scrubbing floors
While in my heart, a queen.
The fairy stories of my youth
That I believed were true
Never came true in my life
Till my eyes fell on you.
And yet, I knew it couldn't be
That you could love me back
A man so rich in life and love
While I had only lack.
I never learned to love a man
Who loved me for myself
I was just used and then refused
And put upon a shelf.
My mother never told me
How to find love true
And I don't think she could have done
For her life was loveless too.
So I grew up on my own terms
Not knowing wrong from right
Loving all who crossed my path
But crying alone each night.
I guess I need a teacher
To teach me how love is
To give me many lessons
And make sure I pass the quiz.
I have a lot of love in me
And so much I'd like to give
Before my life comes to an end
I'd like to really live.
They say love will come when you're ready
And your teacher will come if you pray
Well, I'm ready for love now, my teacher
Teach me how to love you today.

Poeme by Secret Garden
The Storm Overhead (spur of the moment poem)
The Storm Overhead
The storm overhead
Cannot compete with the storm
In my mind
As it thinks about you.
The storm overhead
Cannot compete with the storm
In my veins
As they're yearning for you.
The storm overhead
Cannot compete with the storm
In my heart
As it loves what it lost.
The storm overhead
Cannot compete or come close
To this storm that haunts me
Like an ethereal ghost.
It ignites like the lightning
And thunders your name
The storm overhead
And in me are the same.

You Never Wrote a Poem
You Never Wrote A Poem
(observation of narcissistic writers)
You never wrote a poem
Extolling sentiment
Your words always felt guilty
Never innocent
Your words were full
But full of emptiness
Hiding in a verse or rhyme
Devoid of luminescence
You never wrote a poem
That one could love
You wrote of things below
And not above
You wrote of terror
Like something to be praised
Something buried
Waiting to be raised
Your words were lying lips
That smiled so sweet
Yet every word you wrote
Dripped with deceit
You never wrote a poem
That was believed
But when the ending finally came
The reader was relieved
Where humble poets of other sorts
Spread rhymes of mirth
No one could ever ascertaian
Your rhyming's worth
Perhaps no gift but great potential
You hide behind your eyes
And you may write a lovely line
To catch us by surprise
But you've never written anything
That to a heart rang true
It's clear you never wrote a poem
That wasn't about you.

Imagining You
Is it just my imagination
Or are you really real?
Are you really holding me right now
And making me to feel....
That all my dreams might come to pass
And all my hopes come true
Are you really telling me to dream
But dream of only you?
You need not ask that question, love
For there is no one else
That can make me dream such magic things
Not even my own self.
I do not know where you came from
What star from whence you fell
What moon beam dropped you in my life
For the sun won't even tell.
One day I woke and you were here
Where you'd never been before
Walking up my garden path
And knocking on my door.
The bluebirds serenaded
The rose expressed perfume
The buttercups stood up and danced
With the moon flower and the moon.
And the sound of music filled the air
Pianos, violins
Saxophones and guitar strings
From the hands of holy men.
I looked around to see if I
Had died and gone to Heaven
For you were an angel standing there
That my heart had surely beckoned.
But then you smiled and shook your head
No, I am real, you see
For the angels heard you when you cried
And they have dispatched me.
For I was crying, too, you know
And longing for your love
And wondering if we'd ever meet
And they watched us from above.
It's not imagination
No matter how you feel
We may have been born in that good place
But you and I are real.
And I have come to take you to
That paradise you seek
It's in a world you may not know
For your heartsight has grown weak.
The world that lives in here, you said
And pointed to your heart
The place that love has always been
Where we've never been apart.
And now we'll abide forever there
Where none can tear asunder
And you won't have to imagine me
Or ever have to wonder.
And I gave my hand and gave my heart
To the man that came that day
Who walked out of my hopes and dreams
And here will always stay.
