That Night In Hot Springs In The Rain (a true story told in prose form)

Gentle rain sounds

Play both at same time. Adjust volume to taste

That Night In Hot Springs In The Rain

I had to get away
And get away I did
Drove to Hot Springs and got a hotel
Ordered some pizza
And tried to watch some tv.

But I was bored
So very bored
And it was raining a sweet Spring rain
Yeah, rain has always
Made my blood run hotter
And my feet want to get loose and dance.

I got all dolled up
In a black jumpsuit of spandex
Curled my long hair
Put on perfume
And silver.

Drove the streets of that town
Looking for a place that was alive
With music and men
Some place or cool scene
To let off some steam.

The high end clubs
All seemed too dull
Though I was dressed "high end"
But there was nothing in any of them
That made me want to stay.

I was about to give up on the whole idea
When something shiny caught my eye
I pulled over into the parking lot
And surveyed the neon lights
As the rain fell gently
And Phil Collins sang "my song."

It was a biker bar!
(You know the kind)
The kind you see in movies
With Hondas and Harleys parked all around
And men all dressed in black leathers.

I was terrified
But so enthralled
For I'd never darkened that kind of door
But I was bored and feeling dare devil-ish
And my body was starved for dancing.

I checked the rear view and tousled my hair
As "Hold On My Heart" played on repeat
(You know sometimes when you get obsessed
And you just wanna hear that song?)
Well, hold that image in your mind....

I walked in like it was a movie premiere
And the crowd held it's collective breath
No exaggeration, I kid you not
(But I was scared too death!)
Yeah, me, the girl you think you know.....
I was scared too death!

But I made my way through
The whistles and smoke
And found a place to sit down
Looked around to see if I was the only female
And I was but for some Motorcycle Mamas..

Then the beers started coming
(And I do not drink beer)
And the boys started swaggering
And making boy noise
But I didn't look up and meet anyone's eyes
(Though they all seemed to be willing toys.)

After two or three beers
I was losing my shyness
And feeling my boldness
And losing my blues
And began looking 'round
For a partner to choose.

And then it hit me:
The wildness
(You know that wildness)
And I tossed back my hair
Oh no, not that!
Oh, yes, I did!
I tossed back my hair
And got to my feet.

Downed the last of that horrible
Horrible beer
And then I kinda lost my mind
Grabbed me a startled cute guy by the collar
As Def Leppard started screaming out "Sugar."

"Come here, boy, let's dance." I said
And all eyes glued to us
(Well,  mostly on me but.... you know, you know 😉)
The cute guy ate it up, grinning like crazy
And didn't put up much of a fuss.

To be continued....................(maybe)

Take It Like A Man

Take It Like a Man

lyrics

Boy meets girl it's a delicate thing
So much time spent wondering
If what you see is what you get
I keep looking for a friend and a lover

When I find one he ain't the other
Sometimes, I just want to quit
One wants a maid one needs his mother
They either want space or they want to smother me
And my poor heart needs somebody who

Can take it like a man, steady and strong
Not a lot of fuss and carrying on
True to a promise I can ride in a storm
Take it like a man who knows about love

And every little thing that a girl dreams of
Someone wise enough to understand
If you want this woman's heart
Take it like a man

I met somebody the other night
Started thinking he was Mr. Right
Wrong, I might have never known
If a friend hadn't brought it to my attention

He's got a wife he forgot to mention
Girl, leave that fool alone
I keep hoping and telling myself
Somewhere there's one good one left
'Cause my poor heart needs somebody who

Can take it like a man, steady and strong
Not a lot of fuss and carrying on
True to a promise I can ride in a storm
Take it like a man who knows about love

And every little thing that a girl dreams of
Someone wise enough to understand
If you want this woman's heart
Take it like a man

Can take it like a man, steady and strong
Not a lot of fuss and carrying on
True to a promise I can ride in a storm
Take it like a man who knows about love

And every little thing that a girl dreams of
Someone wise enough to understand
If you want this woman's heart
Take it like a man

Take it like a man
Well honey if you want my heart you gotta
Take it like a man
Take it like a man

The 70s in 6 Minutes too too funny......

Marching For You

Someday We'll All Be Free
 by Donnie Hathaway

Marching For You

We marched because we had to, son
We were tired of dying slow
Burned and beaten with whips of hate
For reasons we didn't know.

Tired of standing in the back of life
Awaiting the freedom of death
Tired of bowing with downcast eyes
And holding our angry breath.

We were tired of living like cattle
Sold in the markets of men
Cursed with a curse, (not mankind) something worse
When existing was our only sin.

We were tired of working for nothing
Owning no thing but our souls
Watching our labor make other men rich
As they reached, (on our backs) for their goals.

Son, we only wanted what was rightfully ours
A family, a home and some land
To be treated fairly and given respect
Like any other color of man.

We marched because we had to
Through this country we call home
(A million miles from the place we were born)
But to which we will ever belong.

In Selma and in Memphis
In Atlanta, Little Rock
Downtown D.C. and Kentucky
And they could not make us stop.

Many died and many cried
As we marched our way through hell
And what our pain has helped us gain
Only God can tell.

Injustice hides it's face from those
Who dare to shine the light
We marched to show our dignity
And to change our wrongs to rights.

We marched because we had to, son
We were tired of hearing "no"
We fought for the freedom that you're taking for granted
In ways that you never will know.

So, don't scorn these tired and graying heads
We're feeble and old, that's true
But as you dance down the street to this new century beat
Know this, son, we were marching for you.
