Fugitive From Love

Fugitive From Love

(a modern day outlaw tale with no happy ending)

I am a fugitive from love
I’ve been on the run for years
I’ve been shot down by heart break bullets
My eyes shed blood red tears.

I am a fugitive from love
Afraid of that lovin’ stuff
Don’t want no fancy free liaisons
No one night romance fluff.

I am a fugitive from love
I only move at night
When love shines it’s light down on me
I keep out of sight.

I am an outlaw running free
I live by no one’s rules
I believe no lies so don’t even try
For I am no longer a fool.

That man, he broke my baby heart
He took away my soul
So I became a fugitive
Hiding in the cold.

(And now you think that you can arrest me
You’re surprised when I resist)
Put on these handcuffs, you say to me
And I’ll lock them with a kiss.

You’ll never take me alive, I say
You’ll never make me stay
I am a fugitive from love
And I will run away.

You shook me by my shoulders
So rigid with pride yet soft
And you said, You’re talking crazy, girl
Baby, that’s crazy talk.

But crazy or no, I will not go
Be led away in chains
You tell me love is getting healed
But all I see is pain.

But I let you persuade me a little
I relented and resigned to my fate
I forgot to forget for a minute
But as you slept, I crept out and escaped.

And I ran and I ran and I ran
Through the night and the stars and the rain
And I cried and I cried and I cried
As I caught that southbound train.

I am a fugitive from love
A woman, scarred and torn
An innocent victim of the pain
That simply can’t be borne.

It hunts me like a prisoner
Though I have committed no crime
It convicts me in the court of love
But I will serve no time.

I am a fugitive from love
An outlaw running free
So skilled am I, don’t even try
You cannot capture me.

You cannot capture me
You cannot capture me
I am a fugitive from love
And you cannot capture me.

Shape Shifter

Shape Shifter

I am a gentleman, you said
and kissed my hand, raising your eyes
in the process to meet mine
in the candlelight
Promise? I queried and withdrew
My hand from your tightening grasp
I wouldn't hurt a fly, you answered
And certainly not the heart
Of a fair lady
And I believed you and went tumbling
Down into the spell you cast
The web you wove
The love I needed so badly
For days on end and nights
Forever
Falling for you and your lies
And then the spell was broken
And the web began to strangle
True colors came to light
And cruelty took the place
Of tenderness
I saw the true you in full sunlight
One day as you shape shifted
From knight to ogre and reached
Out to crush my soul in your hand
You sneered at my fear and laughed
At my pain
You sir, are no gentleman.
You sir, are no gentle man.
You sir, are no man.

I PLAY FOR YOU A VIOLIN

I Play For You A Violin  (repost)

I play for you a violin
And song so soft and sweet
I keep my eyes downcast, demure
As I sit at your feet.

I play for hours at your request
Till time has lost it's meaning
And candles burn down to their wicks
And night is slowly weaning.

Before the dawn has fully come
You hold your hand up high
And bid me stop my melody
Arise and say goodbye.

You do not look back at my face
Tearstung and raised to light
You do not see the love I bear
As you pass from my sight.

A servant girl, that's all I am
With gifted hands to play
Sweet melodies to comfort you
From torments of your day.

A king of royal dynasty
A man of power and yet
You find no peace in power's grasp
No love in life's plan set.

And so I play and so you listen
In silence, just we two
Night after night till daylight breaks
And my heart breaks for you.

You have no inkling of the love
I feel there as I play
Pretending you are mine alone
Till morn takes you away.

To kingly duties, kingly demands
The power of life and death
There in your words, there in your hands
There in your very breath.

All day I wait till midnight comes
For the summon and the call
Your weary face so full of woe
Till at your feet I fall.

And I play for you my violin
Pray peace into the gloom
Wait for your sigh with tear filled eyes
As my love fills up the room.
