Rock Star
Rock Star
I saw a star that had a face
And the star was made of stone
I saw the crown points on his head
In his eyes, a darkness shone.
I saw an entity so old
It's age, I could not tell
And though it reigned in cold, dark space
It's throne was raised in hell.
I saw a thing no tongue could utter
No hand could paint, or draw
It's ugliness hid 'neath a beautiful mask
To deceive all those that saw.
I saw a being made in love
That chose to live in pride
A precious jewel by hatred, fueled
Until it fell and died.
And then became a monstrous thing
A creature birthed of horror
Pulling strings behind the scenes
On a world to rule in sorrow.
I saw a chasm in the sky
'Twixt realms of ancient paths
I heard the titan battle cries
I heard inhuman laughs.
I saw in dreams that were not dreams
In visions on my bed
A multitude of man-beast kings
Marching through my head.
"They're on their way!" I cried aloud
"They're coming to the Earth!"
"They're bringing death and taking breath
To all men given birth!"
And then the star that had a face
Turned round and looked at me
Smiled a sly and sickly smile
And said, "I see you see."
"But you can't stop what I've begun
You can't halt my plan
I am the Rock Star of the Skies
And you are just a man."
I thought in feverish, frightened haste
Until the truth broke through
And I said "I know a Rock that can
Put an end to you."
And the star, it screamed and disappeared
And scattered through the skies
A million units of fading light
That fell to Earth as lies.
And many ages passed by me
Until the End of Days
And I saw evil in the world
And man and all his ways.
Paying homage to the Star
Wishing to be him
And many rock stars walked and reigned
Though compared to that, were dim.
Fame was fleeting, a shining gift
Bestowed on all of those
Who worshipped at the Rock Star's feet
And gave to him their souls.
I saw with sadness in my heart
The hungry eyes of men
Always looking for the answer
And finding it in sin.
I saw the star that had a face
Hanging in the sky
Lusting for what God had made
And I began to cry.
When to my shock and awesome wonder
I beheld the skies roll back
And light beyond the brightest light
Lit up the cold, dark black.
A rock, it fell from heaven's gate
Of unknown depth and girth
A small thing changed into a mountain
And the mountain changed the Earth.
I bowed before the rock that fell
For I recognized the True
And to my amazement, the rock star bowed
There was nothing it could do.
I saw the star that had a face
That was no star at all
And all the things in heaven cried
And all began to fall.
And the mountain became a city
That the righteous entered in
And all the darkness disappeared
Just as though it'd never been.
And in my dream, I gave a sigh
And my spirit left that place
Then I awoke to see the midnight sky
And a star that had a face.
