blistering was the look you gave me

something unfathomable

between anger and passion

I couldn't decipher it

I could only feel it

and oh, did I feel it!

sandwiched between those two pieces of bread,

those emotions,

I waited to be devoured

by one or the other

I didn't care which

at that point

because I felt the same way about you

and for all the same reasons, perhaps

perhaps not

so  there we were....

angerly, passionately,

glaring at one another, waiting

in silence, waiting......

to see which one of us

would take the first bite.
