Looking

Looking

(the beginning of a journey)

Streets as dark as dark can get
Skies as black as blackest jet
I walk these hopeless paths and yet....
Keep looking, I keep looking.

There in the night, a distant light
There in the light, a dim lit sight
I run to see if I am right.....
For looking, always looking.

Too many times, too many days
I've lost my treasure, lost my ways
Grabbed hold so tight, they slipped away....
But continued looking, continued looking.

There is a place, I know, for me
And I will know it when I see
An oasis from this world, will be.....
If I keep looking, just keep looking.

My footsteps, slower now, with age
My life, words, on a yellowed page
My heart, a sad thing in a cage.....
Beats faintly, but still looking, looking.

Love, it calls my unknown name
Like taunting children at a game
Life, it changes, but stays the same....
And I go on looking, I go on looking.

Then up ahead, around a curve
A bright light rises from the swerve
And welcomes me with smile and verve....
And I stop looking, I stop looking.

A Meaningful Life

Love's Rain

Life without love
Is an lonely place

A star with no shine
And no gleaming

Life without love
Is a bitter taste

A life muddled through
With no meaning

Life without love
Is a tiresome thing

Running in circles
In vain

But life, like a desert
Can bloom like a garden

When that dry dust
Is drenched with love's rain.

This is a painting a friend did of me

Like Puddles On An Asphalt Street (An Oldie From Voo's Vault)

Like Puddles On An Asphalt Street

Round and round this life, it goes

And where it stops, the Good Lord knows

Like puddles on an asphalt street

The silver water cool and sweet

Each tear that falls is gathered up

And safely stored inside His cup

And poured upon the soul's parched land

Where roses spring forth from His hands

Tears turn to rivers and then to tides

Of mighty oceans far and wide

And then are used to wash us clean

From the deaths of  our old dreams

Down comes the rain made of our tears

And down the drain go all our fears

Round and round this life, it goes

And where it stops, the Good Lord knows.

Rat In The Trap (Another Oldie From Voo's Vault)

 Rat in the Trap

The rat lay there in the trap

His beady little eyes imploring me

To let him go, his tiny tail twitching

His minuscule heart beating so hard the trap jumped.

Never mind that he had eaten all the cheese

And the chocolate and the cream

Never mind that he had gnawed my silk dress

And the dyed to match shoes that went with it.

For months he had terrorized the cat

Driven the dog into fits of anguish

Jumped over ottomans and eaten through walls

Undoing all the interior decorating.

I stood there staring at him in my victory

Remembering all the rat poison that he had left

In my best crystal bowls, in my coffee cups

Little revengeful surprises moved from under the sink.

He really was amazing, I gave him that

So resourceful in his will to survive and torment

Damn your rodent hide! I finally said and lifted him by the tail

Walked over to the house next door and threw him in the window.

"And stay gone, ya lil creep, unless

you want to be Rat Ravioli!!!"

"I kinda miss him.....he took all the blame for crap..."

Bwahahaha !!!!!
I'll be...back!!!!!

New watch cat
who does dog impersonations
Megrrrowl!!

"I'm baaaack!"

"She does not see me..she does not see me...she does not...oops! She sees me!!!"

"Save me, Rubber Duckie!"

"Oh, I am sooo not falling for that again! Oh, look, cheese!"

"Curses!!!! Foiled Again!!!!!"

Meanwhile, a little homeless girl finds her way into the house

"Hey, Lady, will you be my mommy?"

"Well, of course, I will! Here, darling, have a Happy Meal."

(sorry, couldn't resist....so cute!!!!)  sigh............

Adversaries, Monkeys and BFFs

Adversaries, Monkeys and BFFs

Voo and Rose were frenemies

They hated each other's guts

One was brilliant to the brim

And one was just plain nuts.

One day outside a convenience store

They met up in the rain

Each one had come to buy a Slurpee

But both were broke again.

I tell you what, Voo, Roseanne said

As a toothpick she did chew

Let's me and you hold up this place

And I'll share the take with you.

And Voo said, Yes (a trusting soul)

And followed Roseanne's lead

At the sight of Rose, the store clerk fled

So nobody had to bleed.

They took the money from the till

Downed a case of beer

Filled twenty-five cups of Slurpee stuff

Till they heard the sirens near.

This way and that, the robbers ran

With coins a-plenty flying

Into a flock of proud peacocks

Who screeched like they were dying.

A fine mess you have got us in!

VooVoo to Rose then cried

Me?! burped Rose, It's your stupid fault

That cannot be denied.

They hid within the monkey cage

For they had run into the zoo

And no one there could tell the difference

Between the monkeys, Rose and Voo.

They watched as cops all gathered 'round

To question everyone

The kangaroo said that he'd seen nothing

But he said it just for fun.

The elephant said that he couldn't remember

If crooks had run in to the place

And the tiger thought that maybe they had

But he couldn't sketch a face.

But when they questioned the peacocks

So proud and loud and strong

They said that there'd  been at least thirty men

But boy, did they get that wrong!

All day they waited with baited breath

To escape that monkey's cage

And Voo, poor thing, she tried to pray

As Rose paced in a rage.

I never should have  gone in with you!

For a Slurpee we will fry!

Here, have a banana, Voo offered her sweetly

You're making the crocodiles cry!

Then midnight came and they crept out of the cage

And the zoo full of  snore and roar

Rose gave Voo the Slurpees and she kept the money

And the monkeys were loose once more.
