Nothing Tastes Like You
Sweet, like homemade strawberry wine
The taste of you lingers
Like chocolate on fingers
Like jelly and jam
And all that I am
Stays hungry for you.
Salty and savory
Like steak in brown gravy
Like sandwiches making
With lettuce and bacon
Burgers and fries that widen the eyes
Just looking at you makes me drool.
Caramel sweets
And dark truffle treats
Godiva and Lindt
My money all spent
In my long ago days
But I've changed my ways.
I save myself, indulge myself
On the feast of your love and
The delectable true
Most flavors I know and really love so
But there's no taste to me
As delicious as you.

DeleteI swear up and down I posted a comment here last night. Now I’ve been outmatched by an “Anonymous” rival! Lol!
ReplyDeleteIt was something like “I’m wiping my lips as I’m reading” or something like that. It’s a lusciously indulging written poem. I won’t be forgetting this one! I love it! Now I have a craving for the lettuce and the bacon. And the bacon grease. 🥬 🥓
you probably hit Preview by accident. It makes the comment vanish....
