She Loves The Rain

  1. It was raining cats and dogs when I stepped out of the building; even the catfish were wearing rain suits. I’ll bet the lakes were so high that you could see clean under ‘em.
I started walking up the sidewalk, well, runnin’ towards Eddie’s bar and restaurant about a block just down the street. By the time I got to it I was a’huffin’ and a’puffin’.

Eddie’s was one of those places where you never think of finding a prospective date, much less an attractive woman who can possibly persuade you into making a life-altering decision.

I walked into the place not looking for anything but a meal and a cheap glass of wine. The atmosphere was thick with conversation and the smell of budget-friendly booze. The bar and restaurant had the same vibe as any other night; dismal. Even the bartender was having a bad night listening to all those drunkards and their sob stories. Those types of people have more issues than Sports Illustrated…..
Anyway, I made my way to the back of the place and found a booth and sat down. The springs in the bench were so shot that I must’ve sunk four or five inches in the seat. Even my great grandmothers’ old spring mattress had more lift than this ol’ seat, and it was worn out. I slid over to the outside edge and used half the napkins in the holder as a wedge for lift to keep from sliding back into the worn area. As I got comfortable I happened to look up and saw the most attractive woman that I had ever seen. She was purdy too! She had on the prettiest off-white colored dress with sleeves that hung down past her shoulders, and lips that were the deepest red. Her dark auburn hair had the fullness of a soft feather pillow.
I could tell she was in deep thought as she stared down that tall glass of champagne.
I couldn’t help myself, I just stared at her, soakin’ in the scenery.
The waiter walked up and asked if I wanted the usual cheap bottle of red wine poured into one of those empty bottles of the most expensive champagne. I looked up at him and gave him a slight nod of confirmation. As he walked away I shouted to him, “waiter, why don’t you make that one of your most expensive bottles of champagne.” He knew the routine……… Hey! First impression is everything!
I kept waiting for her to look my way so I could give her my best smile and the sexiest hello. That always seems to work ……….. in my dreams.
When the bottle arrived, I took the greatest care to uncork it and pour myself a glass. Just as the cork popped, she looked my way. Immediately I gave her my best smile. I couldn’t remember my next line so I said the first thing that came to mind ……….. nice day isn’t it?! She gave me quite the stare. Lookin’ towards the front window she turned back and responded, “it’s raining outside!”
I sat there and kept telling myself, “I think She loves the Rain!” ☔️

    So much for first impressions………..

  2. I really love the picture of the young lady sitting at the table looking at a glass of champagne or wine.
