WHERE COULD I GO?

Where Could I Go?

Without you in my dream-filled arms
Down where the hopeful meet
I'd never know what love looks like
Or how it tastes so sweet.

Without you running down that road
In misty morning air
I'd never see the sun light rise
Like halos in your hair.

I'd never hear the song bird's song
And the joy that shines in eyes
I'd never know the ring of truth
That separates the lies.

I could not know the touch of bliss
That visits at that gate
Could only long for a tender kiss
To come and change my fate.

But there you are, and there you stand
With arms out-stretched to me
And there I run in breathless haste
To where you'll always be.

In dreams, as perfect as a rose
In sleep, where dreams come true
In midnight lands where dreamers flee,
I flee, and search for you.

For in this world, you do not dwell
On east or western shore
Your spirit passed this way but once
And caught my eyes no more.

Yet every night I hear your call
Your voice so low and deep
You say my name and I awake
There in the realm of sleep.

And hand in hand, we run and run
From daybreak's heartless sorrow
To find the night that has no end
That always comes tomorrow.

Where could I go but to my dreams?
No love waits at the dawn
My life's a lonely, loveless thing
Since you've grown wings and flown.

Where could I go? Where could I find
The love I miss so much
There in the green fields of the heart
Mere deserts, without your touch?

Perhaps one day I will come to you
Though I don't know if that will be
Till then, I'll run through these days to night
When you can come to me.

FALLING my birthday poem,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Dec 30th..................

Falling

I fell in love the day I was born
Like Elvis said "one frosty morn"
A winter's day nigh the New Year
And cried to find myself dropped here
From clouds of Glory, to Earth I came
To earthly parents and earthly name
I came from Heaven to find a place
And all my memory of there, replaced
I grew to find myself misfit
And full of wisdom, woe and wit
Feeling never at home on this round rock
And searching ever, it never stopped
Falling in love in the abyss of a heart
Reading the end of the story before the story would start
Looking for answers in the eyes of a stranger
Trusting in fools and dealing with danger
Falling and falling and falling, I fell
Falling from Heaven and falling through Hell
Loving the unseen and hoping somehow
I've fallen forever and I'm still falling now.

GAINS AND LOSSES

Gains and Losses

In the game of life, we lose a lot
Much more than we gain
And spend half our time out of our minds
And the other, half insane.

Our columns add up in tiny measures
But the minus columns are long
We hum our tunes about the moon
And never learn the song.

We walk the streets with solemn feet
And pass people we could love
But we don't have the time, we are so blind
To needs we don't think of.

Stock markets rise, stock markets fall
And we throw our money down
And riches lose or poverty gain
We swagger like a clown.

He who dies with the most toys wins
The saying goes today
But the winner loses all the same
When he throws his friends away.

And lovers come and lovers go
And people pass from Earth
And living flows so very slow
Between the death and birth.

We poets write in dark of night
Our prose for other's hearts
We see the love that others share
And of which we have no part.

And after death our fame may rise
And our verses published be
But the adoration given then
Our eyes will never see.

For poets only feel the losses
The suffering and pain
We do not know the face of love
Or blessings ever gain.

But if Heaven waits beyond the veil
As a reward for our trust
Then all our losses will fade away
And blow away like dust.

Perhaps this life was never meant
To be a poet's paradise
But through the preaching of our prose
Save other men from vice.

I cannot say, I do not know
I only know I yearn
To lose the losses and gain the gains
And to share what I have learned.
