Put A Candle In The Window

Long As I Can See The Light by CCR

This Can't End Well..................................

Obsession (An Oldie From Voo's Vault)

 Obsession

When I see your eyes

I lose my mind, I lose my balance

And I go tumbling down

Down into the deep, dark warmness of your soul.

When I see your mouth, I feel an overwhelming hunger

A thirst for the dew of your lips

A desire to be devoured by the one thing

That I cannot live without which is you.

When I feel your nearness, I cannot breathe, I cannot think

I can only feel and feeling you

Is all that sustains me, brings me to life

For life without you is not even existing.

Let us dance the dance of love

Let us eat the fruit of love

Hold me in your hands

 And feel my heart.

Hear me speak without words,

See without eyes, love without reason

I am yours as surely

As the birds believe the sky is theirs,

I am yours as surely

As the fishes think they own the sea

If I am deceived then it's because I wish to be

I am blind with my eyes wide open.

Loving you, I believe myself to be immortal

Loving you, I think my love to be indestructible

Yet every day that you're not here

I am destroyed and slowly dying.

I feel like a dry and arid desert

Come, pour your love out on me

And I will blossom and flourish

Like a garden in your care.

I love you. I want you. I need you as air

Let me fall into your eyes

And tumble there forever

On and on, over and over

Forever and ever, falling in love.

One Last Sweet Time (Oldies from Voo's Vault)

One Last Sweet Time

on the edge of a dream at the edge of the dawn

not stirred enough to wake

I saw you walk into my view

and there did my breath take

from behind a veil of soft chiffon

 you stepped into the light

and oh, my cries as oh, my eyes

beheld that wondrous sight!

in golden glow you stood as though

in Heaven's spotlight stood

and smiled that smile that only you

could smile at me and would

I reached my hand to touch your face

but your face touched not my hand

it seemed you dwelt a thousand miles

away in another land

your eyes held mine in timeless time

and I looked at you and yearned

I tried to kiss those lips I love

but my kiss was not returned

a ghostly shadow pulled you back

and I tried to make you stay

but you faded as you told me you

did not want to go away

I held onto the dream till I

could not hold it any longer

and day was tapping at my door

and sun was growing stronger

I rose to open up the shades

and let the morning in

when came a knocking loud and long

two military men

in uniforms so starched and neat

with voices sad in tone

we're sorry to inform you of this news...

but the one you love is... gone

all day I sat there in the silence

looking for reason and rhyme

and finally, grateful that God let me

see you one last sweet time.

After He Left (Oldies from Voo's Vault)

After He Left

After he left

I sat there staring at the floor

Contemplating something he had said in passing

Over the filet mignon and strawberry Kool-Aid

(Don't ask)

(Well, alright, the cat broke the wine bottle and...oh, never mind)

It wasn't so much what he had said but how he said it

The candle has burned out, he observed

And sighed that little "Niles Crain" sigh that I loved

And detested at the same time

Well, I had noticed that we were sitting in the dark

But hadn't noticed why, you see

Just thought to myself: Did the sun die?

And wasn't it alive when we sat down to eat?

Such a long meal. Such a looong boring meal

I had planned to tell him it was over

(The relationship, not the meal)

But in all the chaos of the broken wine bottle

And the subsequent Kool-Aid offering and sneers

Pointed in my direction, I was momentarily undone

And when I had found my voice, it was only

To speak to empty air and darkness

And the squeak of the front door as he slipped out

And hurried down the steps to the streets awash with rain

Yes, definitely. I said, The candle has burned out

And I lit what was left of the blackened wick,

Sat on the floor with my half filled flute

Of strawberry ooey-gooey sweetness

And sighed, not heart broken, but dull and accepting of fate

Yet hopeful, as always, like Frasier
